Sound Engineering
Paul is available as a Sound Engineer both in Durham and in his home area of Kent, he has knowledge of running all aspects of P.A. and technical services for small to medium sized events. Paul worked a lighting operator and as a sound engineer for many events as well as organising events of his own and taking on a range of roles within them.
Paul has experience in using many different types of P.A. equipment, from mixing equipment to amps, stage and effects lighting, multiphase and high current power distribution, staging and rigging. He has worked in a variety of different settings including halls, full stages and outside events and has worked pragmatically around a variety of different event budgets. His background in IT also allows Paul to make full use of computer technology in his setups, including audio-visual effects and communication systems.
In the last year Paul has done a lot of P.A. work at Van Mildert College, part of the University of Durham where he is a student and heads the P.A. Committee. He was lead Sound Engineer for the very successful production of “Beauty and the Beast” , co-ordinated P.A. for the annual Cabaret and was lead Engineer for the main room in the Van Mildert Michaelmas Ball, which was headlined by New Vinyl.
More recently, Paul was Technical Director for Van Mildert College’s production of Fame! The Musical, a production on a scale never before seen at the College. Working closely with the director and producer James Reevell, Paul co-ordinated all sound, power, lighting, rigging and stage requirements, including managing a technical team and multiple equipment hires. Additionally, Paul engineered the Durham “Jam By The Lake” festival this summer which was headlined by Frank Turner and assisted with the technical side of the Summer Ball, which was headlined by Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills.
