2006 System Debuts

The “2006 System” is without a doubt the biggest project I have ever envisaged, let alone completed. Originally begun as a simple spreadsheet system to monitor ordered products and calculate “freestock”, the projects success has been its downfall as more and more people within my client business realise the implications that a new system could have for them.

In its current state the system comprises over 40 spreadsheets, over three sites and with a sum filesize (before data) of over 100MB. It manages the business (which I shan’t name, but is a world-recognised brand in its field and deals in millions yearly.) right from products ordered through to ordering raw materials and valuing the stock.

Its implementation has not been without problem, but since it all went into “real” use on Janaury 2nd it all appears to be working! Which is handy, because there was no contingency to fall back on if it didn’t..

So, if anyone out there wants a new Stock Management System… I’m your man….

Save me!

I’m in A2 Computing, I’ve been asked to list eight things a web browser can do, I’ve been told all web addresses start with http://www, and now I’m being taught Amazon is a company that does its business over the internet.

Come back foo!
