Featuring hits from a variety of shows and films including Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar and Hairspray, to name but a few, it will be an evening of top class entertainment involving over 80 Mildertians. We hope to see as many of you there as possible and with tickets costing only £2.50 and all profits going to charities (Age Concern and ME REsearch) you'd have to be pretty mean not to! Krafty Kuts at Subotica - Monday
Noticing the pattern here? Yes its Subotica Mondays at Loveshack again with another top-class alternative music act hitting peaceful Durham. This Monday it's Krafty Kuts with support from Marc Roberts. Krafty is a big player in the international club scence, working alongside acts such as The Prodigy and Fatboy Slim he's appearing on stage with Dynamite MC. At just £5 on the doors its sure to be a good night and a great alternative to the cheese-fest at Studio. More details on the facebook http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=47105061852
Formal and Disco - Tuesday
Yet another formal I hear you cry! Yes indeed, so don't forget early tea and a bit of drunken dancing in the JCR afterwards. Another new DJ will be having a go, so come down and give them some support.

This Thursday in our very own JCR, Van Mildert is hosting "Verbal Remedies", a night of political music, comedy and poetry. Part of the People and Planet tour all are welcome to this event, which will kick off at 8pm sharp. More details are available online at http://peopleandplanet.org
Anti-Valentines Night
Sickly romance not your thing? No-one to share this magical time of the year with? Come along to the Bar on Friday and be miserable together for Anti-Valentines night. I'm not quite sure what this is going to entail yet, look out for some details from Louise soon!
Election Results and Kazu

This Week...
Hello all, and welcome to another fun-filled bulletin of social goodness. On offer this week we have...
- Superbowl TONIGHT until 3am!
- Theatre Committee Presents... Our Country's Good
- Subotica Presents BENGA at Loveshack
- Liver's Out Formal and Disco
- Studio Thursday supporting DUCK
- Folk Soc Ceilidh
- Cocktail Night in the Bar
- JCR Meeting
- Quiz Night
Plus, there's a little bit about what to do if you want to DJ in college at bops or after formals!
Superbowl and Late Bar Tonight
Let's get ready to rrrrumble!!! Come and enjoy the dazzling spectacle that is American Football XLIII... (or if you don't understand the rules, just come along to watch the bricks in helmets collide with each other and enjoy the half-time entertainment!) The Bar will be serving right up until 3am so spread the word!!!
Our Country's Good
A young lieutenant takes on the task of directing rehearsals with only two copies of the text, a cast of convicts and a leading lady about to be hanged.
Brutally funny and heartbreakingly moving; this production is not to be missed.
Our Country's Good was written by Timberlake Wertenbaker after seeing a performance at Wormwood Scrubs Prison. It won the Laurence Olivier Play of the Year award in 1988.
Don't forget there's a formal this Thursday, which means early dinner and some blazing musical goodness in the form of a Disco afterwards in the JCR.
ON WHICH NOTE...WANT TO DJ IN COLLEGE?
As many of you will know, myself and James are very much fans of going out, getting a bit drunk and dancing like loons until the early hours. The trouble is, DJ'ing as often as we do we can't seem to find much time for this anymore! If you fancy giving us a break and doing some DJ'ing in college please get in touch as we'd love to hear from you! You will need to provide your own computer or CDs (and not just an ipod, you'll need some actual DJ software) but if you don't have this we can certainly point you in the right direction. You even get paid a bit to do it! To find out more please e-mail myself or James.
Studio Thursday in Support of DUCK
Get yourselves to Studio on Thursday 5th February for a night of guilt-free hedonism! For only £3, you get R&B on the top floor of Studio with a DJ who apparently breakdances?! (Disclaimer: he may not breakdance whilst he DJs), and the usual Durham fodder of chart, cheese and indie on the first floor.
Even better, you can justify this on the grounds that £1 from the entry fee goes straight to DUCK Thailand / Kilimanjaro expeditions 2009, and you'd be helping out 3 of Mildert's finest! (well, 3 Mildert students anyway).
So what better way can you think of spending your Thursday night post-formal?!
Folk Soc Ceilidh
The next Folk Society Ceilidh will take place on Thursday 5th February, from 8:30pm in the DSU Riverside Cafe. It will have all the usual exciting features- peanuts, raffle, rapper etc., and live music from our own Durham University Ceilidh Band. Entry is £2 members/£4 non-members.
Cocktail Night in the Bar
Louise informs me that this Friday there will be cocktails a plenty in the Bar, apparently there will even be "fit" bar staff serving them up. Remains to be seen who that'll be then....
JCR Meeting
Next Sunday will be a JCR mega meeting, with hustings for Senior DSU Rep, JCR President, Social Secretary, Head of Mildert Day, Yearbook Editor, VMA Rep, Head of Summer Ball and probably more! Agenda for that will be coming soon so look out for that!
Quiz Night
8:30pm ... Mildert Bar ... Quiz Night ... Standard.
And that's all folks...
